State.io
Risk is one of the earliest board games about world domination and has paved the way for similar games and video games like State IO. As any overseer would concern themselves, you're given a view of a map showing a part of the world. With your connections, you've managed to set up some of your forces in a particular territory with others nearby being ripe for the taking. The thing is that you're not the only ruler with your mind set on taking over and so the competition is on. You must balance between attack and defense to take the land for yourself!
About State IO
Games about dividing and conquering can be simplified down to basic numbers and patterns for a more condensed experience. This game does that while still managing to be active enough to keep you engaged. There's not much to look at but then again you don't need much to look at when you're focusing on strategy and planning your next move. Your enemies will constantly be making attacks so waiting is not always the best option since if you don't get into the race, you'll quickly fall behind. The long game is not really an option here which makes for faster gameplay.
How to Play
State IO is a 2D top-down strategy game about trying to take over all the territories in a certain part of the world using just the mouse. To select your units, move the cursor over to a territory center under your control and click with the Left Mouse Button. To order them to another territory center, hold the Left Mouse Button and drag their direction to their target. All the units in the territory at that time will mobilize, attacking any enemies they encounter. The goal is to bring all the territories in the area under your control.
When the level starts, you'll have control over one territory on the map. As time goes on, your territory (and others) will produce units. To take over another territory, you must move the available units from one of your territories toward the other's center. If your army outnumbers the defending army, you will gain control. Gray territories are neutral and will not attack, but territories of different colors will and are also trying to gain control. If armies cross each other while marching, they'll reduce each other's forces. The level ends when either all the territories have been conquered by you or you're eliminated.
Each victory will earn you coins and continuous victories can net you additional rewards. The coins can be spent on the main menu to improve your starting units and how quickly they're produced.
Tips and Tricks
Your first territory should act as your primary base and you should start building up defenses around it by capturing neighboring territories quickly. This may limit you to small numbers at first but can allow you to build up more in the long run. As you expand, your base will end up producing massive amounts of units that you can use to quickly take over stronger areas.
